In this issue of Saga Magazine : The special relationship between grandparents and grandchildren emerged by happy coincidence as a theme of the June issue of Saga Magazine. Our cover girl, BBC presenter, arts critic and newspaper agony aunt Mariella Frostrup reflects on how mutually beneficial it is for the different generations to spend time with each other. And while they’re having fun playing cards and Candy Crush, Mariella is busy campaigning for women’s rights both here (where she urges older women to fight against being bracketed into what is ‘expected’ of their age group – hurrah!) and around the world.
Luckily, spending time with the young ‘uns turns out to be one of the eight habits that can make us seem younger than our years (though it may not feel that way after a day of looking after them!). And you’ll doubtless be relieved to hear there are plenty of less exhausting ways of staying younger for longer.
On a more serious note, and with the general election just around the corner, former minister Alan Johnson urges us all to think beyond Brexit. He believes getting politicians of all parties to agree on how we are to fund adult social care is the most pressing issue of our time.
All that, plus our regular pages of invaluable money advice from Paul Lewis and Annie Shaw, health problems diagnosed by Dr Mark Porter, relationship dilemmas resolved by Jo Brand, expert travel advice, our £100 prize crosswords, and a last laugh with Bill Bailey. Enjoy!
