In this issue of The Lady : Dear Readers
Even the most reluctant theatre-goer will be
able to hum a song from at least one musical.
In my case I can recite almost every line from
High Society, but this is mainly because I was
brainwashed as a child – my mother was such
a fan she named me Samantha after Grace Kelly’s leading lady.
I know, but it could have been worse. Guess where my school
friend Doris-Day got her name from?
The festive season ahead is packed
with musical chances to develop
your fixations, some old shows, some
new, and some on ice. For those who
have never seen one of these frozen
extravaganzas, Nutcracker On Ice
at the Royal Albert Hall is captivating. But don’t just take my
word for it – why not enter our competition to win one of two free
sets of family tickets. And if you’re stuck for a date, no problem
– why not knit your own Mr Darcy? Or treat yourself to one of
the gorgeous dresses on our Downton-inspired fashion pages?
Alternatively, you could follow Hugh St Clair’s guide to investing
in antiques and collectables. You never know, you might end up
with something very sparkly.
Until next time, best wishes
