In this issue of The Lady : Dear Reader,
When do you know that all is not what it seems?
Is it when Catherine Zeta-Jones appears dressed
in sensational couture and introduces herself as
Rose Winters, a reporter for The Lady magazine?
Yes, like so many occasions in this magazine’s
131-year history, The Lady is once again at the heart of the action;
this time at the centre of the plot for the new Dad’s Army film.
After all, The Lady did continuously
publish throughout the Second World
War, so who else would be able to
send someone to report on Captain
Home Guard? I daren’t tell you too
much – as we know, idle gossip can cost lives – but I do urge you
to see the film. If only to be reminded of Lance Corporal Jones’s
sage advice that ‘They don’t like it up ’em, Mr Mainwaring’.
But cats can be stars too if given the chance. Maybe your little
moggie has done something outstanding? Or perhaps just been
a firm friend – the hunt is now on to find the Cat of the Year. The
red carpet beckons…
Until next week, best wishes
