Collecting period pieces is an art in itself
“Treasures from India: Jewels from the Al-Thani Collection” will run until January 25 next year. These magnificent pieces speak volumes about Al-Thani’s refined taste, his love of the arts and his keen eye for picking up rare and historically significant pieces, including a gem-set tiger head finial originally from the throne of Tipu Sultan, the famed ruler of Mysore, and the jade dagger owned by Jahangir and later, Shah Jahan. Turn to the Museum Tour section on page 44 to view some of the extraordinary pieces that highlight the artistry of Indian craftsmanship.
